Dear Pirtle Parents,
We hope this information will help with your decision making process about
getting involved with the Joe M. Pirtle, PTA. We welcome any Comments and/or
Suggestions That you may have through out the year. If we can help in any
way or, if you just don’t know what you may be able to do please, do not
hesitate to ask. We have many working parents that volunteer and would love
for you to feel welcome and involved whether you work outside your home or,
in your home There is plenty to do for everyone!

REFLECTIONS:
CHAIRPERSON:
ELIZABETH COFFMAN
Reflections, is a State PTA art contest held every year.
Participating students have the chance to advance to
regional, state and even national finals. Volunteers for
this committee will help promote, sort entries, fill out
award ribbons and fill out other information required
for entries. "2008-2009
THEME: "WOW…"Play an instrument? Create
Videos? Write Stories?
BOOK FAIR: CHAIRPERSON:
TERRY JACKSON
Types of volunteer work needed:
Set-up a couple of days before the book fair and take
down the last day of the book fair. The book fair is
scheduled for the 2nd week of November, and then one in
the spring. Terry will also need help during the day to
man the register and help students/teachers with book
sales/restocking and straightening.
PIRTLE PESOS: CHAIRPERSON:
Julie Navarro
Pirtle Pesos is a program that
rewards students for reading, by providing a book
to every student for summer reading. Volunteers
will be needed to help promote the store, come up with
incentive ideas, and man the store and book market.
Please take this opportunity to volunteer your time to
encourage our kids to read!

The Website chair will need to be

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE/VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR:
CHAIRPERSON:
Kendy Lentz
The Membership Committee recruits
members; collects dues and. actively maintains an
updated Membership list. Each year Texas PTA has a
membership theme. This year's theme is "Unlock the
Future with PTA".
The Volunteer Coordinator will work within the
membership Committee and help Committee Chairs to line
up volunteers as events come up. The Volunteer
Coordinator should like to talk to people, on the phone
and through e-mail. Most of the volunteer work for this
committee will be administrative or marketing/PTA type
activities... There can be either one person doing this
job or, 2 people working closely together.
TEACHER SUPPORT/ COMMITTEE: CHAIRPERSON: Jackie Houlden &

The Classroom Support
Committee enlists room parents to assist classroom
teachers with various parties and activities during the
school year. This committee also organizes events
throughout the year to recognize the teachers and staff
of Pirtle Elementary School
TIGER PAWS COMMITTEE:
CHAIRPERSON:

The Tiger Paws committee oversees the sale and
protection of PTA property, including t-shirts,
calendars, misc. items such as zipper pulls and coin
purses, and gifts and books purchased or donated for the
Pesos Markets. Right stuff is in charge of consumables
such as paper plates, cups and napkins for food events.
The committee also fulfills orders for PTA items and
re-orders items when needed. Tiger Paws will also
maintain the PTA closet where all of the above mentioned
items are stored and communicate with the other
committees to know exactly what they have in the closet
for any and all events through the year. Also they will
help update the marquee, so it will need volunteers to
change the sign outside the school.
YEARBOOK
CHAIR: CHAIRPERSON:
DRENDA CAPPS
This committee will work with the
yearbook company to put together our yearbook this year.
They’ll need help gathering and organizing photos. They
will also need to have parents throughout the year
taking photos and donating them for the yearbook of
school events, especially things like field trips and
group shots. The Historian and the yearbook Chair should
work closely together. We are currently exploring
other yearbook options to make this the best complete
yearbook yet!
FOOD COMMITTEE: CHAIRPERSON:

The chairperson's responsibilities
would be to organize 3-4 different suppers,
one during each book fair (fall& spring) and one during
spring talent show
They will possibly be in charge of the food for the
Spring Carnival in March.
PIRTLE
PANTRY: CHAIRPERSON:

This committee is in charge of 2
food drives we have each year to help families in our
school or, community that are in need of a helping hand
during the holidays. This committee needs someone to
organize and promote the gathering and donations of food
before Thanksgiving and before Christmas.

COMING SOON
The Box tops Committee recruits
kids by class to collect and turn in Box tops which are
cashed in at the end of the year or cash for our school
and kids. Volunteers on this committee promote the
program collect Box tops from the rooms, count, sort and
mail in Box tops and participate in the awarding of
prizes to classes who collect the most Box tops.
There are 2 main
deadlines for Box tops one in the Fall October, 6th and
one in the spring February, 2nd.
TALENT SHOW: CHAIRPERSON:

The Talent Show in February is a
wildly popular event going into its fifth year now.
Types of volunteers needed will be to help with the
set-up, organizing students to go on stage,
help with auditions a few days before, to help screen
the talent, Organize the program, and locate judges.
This year we are going to try to make a few changes to
accommodate our very large amount of entries but, we
need your help with thoughts and Ideas to implement.
T-SHIRT SALES AND DESIGN COMMITTEE:

This committee’s main
responsibilities will be with the marketing, ordering,
maintaining an inventory, and selling of the Pirtle
Pride t-shirts throughout the school year. Each January
this committee will implement a t-shirt design contest.
A new t-shirt will be chosen through the contest, and
approved By the board. New T-shirts will be
reordered in time for the May kindergarten round up.

PUBLICATION COMMITTEE
The publication committee will be responsible for having
our 6week newsletter translated and then making copies
at the school so; it can go home in students backpacks.
The newsletter will come from the Website. Other duties
will include any type of publication type things that
are needed to be put together and then sent out. |
